Joan Lupton“My favorite feature is the hollyhock mural. Wright hated boxy little rooms and did everything he could to eliminate walls. In this case, he planted a garden to make the wall go away. This means that no matter where one sits at the dining room table, there’s a garden in view and a feeling of openness…. Fall is my favorite season in the house and, I think, the favorite of most guests, for it is then that the house truly opens up to the out-of-doors and becomes one with it, the interior colors blending so perfectly with those of the natural world. What a genius he was!”
